5 days with a wheelchair friend by rental car  / 2010

Automatic rental car at Reykjavik international airport. We drive using a potable hand controller made in USA. 
Problem is only high rental car price. 

My wheelchair friend do toilet only in a bathroom. I can do toilet anywhere using a mini plastic bottle. 
Many wheelchair accessible big toilet in Iceland. These photos are restaurant. One is wheelchair accessible. So great !! 

Tourist place were generally wheelchair accessible. Surely some place are not accessible because of nature land.
Many great falls from glacier. Wheelchair can reach near some falls, but very rough road.

We tried joining whale watching tour in Husavik, northern Iceland. Fortunately our tour ship was big. Not so much swing. Sailors helped us. Cold and rainy. We could see many whales, but not all body, just whales back. Nice 3 hours tour.

Lava locks around Myvatn lake. Dimmuborgir nice trail inside lava. I could go inside. not all but possible.
So exciting adventure. On back way I need someone's help to push hills.

Volcano country. Hot springs.

Myvatn nature bath. It opened in 2004. Ramp at entrance and to bath.

The most exciting tourist spot for us was Jokursarlon, glacir lake. The wooden bridge to tour boat was so nice for wheelchair users. We could get in easily. 30 minutes cruise.

Nice drive if the whether is fine. Many falls and criffs.

Icelander like hot spring pool and spa. High quality facility and also wheelchair accessible.
Do not miss visiting. Cheap price and full of local people's smile.
