Nagoya castle in Aichi. Accessible facility. Elevator helps wheelchair and elderly guests.

 

Matsumoto castle in Nagano is often said three of the best Japanese castles. It remains more than 400 years. 
We can see the real old ages. It made by woods. Inside castle is not accessible for wheelchair. 
Impossible to renew. Enjoy surroundings and garden.  

Izumo shrine in Shimane. Japanese old emperor shrine.
Good accessible tourist place. You should try to get a  Japanese fortune slip.

 

Nara Todaiji Temple, Great Buddha hall. Today Nara train station is accessible. About 30 minutes by walk.
The center part of approach road was changed smooth. Old stone road is very bumpy. This is a natural change.
Some step at entrance. Special accessible route only for wheelchair users. But no access to ticket counter.

Some ramp inside Buddha hall. Enjoy huge Buddha and wooden sculpture. 

Japan is famous for hot-springs " Onsen ".  Kusatsu Onsen is a historical hot-spring cure.
Very hot water coming from the earth naturally. We call hot water river " hell's riverside ".
Old story says, when we die, the judge chose heaven or hell on " hell's riverside ".
A huge Onsen pool on the end of the river. Good for health. Naked is a rule in Japan.

 

 

" Tsuru no yu " in Akita is often said the best secret Onsen.  Inside deep mountain, but we can access by car.
Hundreds years history and Middle age atmosphere.

"Osore zan " is the northern spiritual place like a hell and heaven. We can talk with ghosts through spiritual woman.
Also they have hot springs. Free to enter. Old days, many sick person stayed and be treated.
Today many accessible equipment in historical place. Japan changes more friendly for wheelchairs and the aged.

Japanese food is so nice.

This is my mother cooking breakfast. Rice, soup, egg, fish, and salted vegetables.

A whole live fresh squid lunch in Yobuko, Kyusyu.
First dish " sashimi ".  Second dish " boiled squid dumpling ".  Third dish " flied legs, rice, soup, and desert ".

   

Many many festivals and fire work events in August.  Traditional beat by Japanese drum and flute at night.

Old capital Kyoto is the most popular destination for tourist. Many temple and nice garden. 
Today many temple has an accessible route for wheelchair users. It is not perfect because of old building and thinking. 

 

Art island Naoshima is very hot. We can feel special modern art and great landscape of beautiful islands and sea.

Celebrity secret island resort hotel exits, but expensive for me.
Our family, with wife and 2 kids, stayed at a economy accommodation. A big tent with 4 single beds.
One of 10 tents was accessible. Public toilet is outside. One wheelchair accessible toilet available.
I was so happy that Japan became wheelchair accessible year by year.

 

A modern art public bath room was opened in 2009 in Naoshima. Amazing art space.
Enjoy Japanese public bath. This is our culture.
Some steps at entrance. But no step inside. Toilet is possible to use by manual wheelchair.
